Justice and The Hanged Man ] & [  Tools To Develop Mindfulness  ]

Well summer is here and we are trying to work in the gardens and complete our outside work, as well as enjoy the outdoors as long as we can. Spring was pretty wet and summer has started out the same way. I think the great mother feels our area must need a lot of cleansing.

Justice and The Hanged Man

Justice XI
We start this ezine with Justice, number 11 in some decks and number 8 in others. For our purpose, we will see Justice as number 11, following 10, the Wheel of Fortune. If we look at the more spiritual aspect of The Wheel of Fortune as being ?the Cause? in the Law of Karma (the Law of Cause and Effect), then Justice represents ?the Effect? or the sword of Karmic Justice. Justice can represent a simple legal matter or a complex chain of events that were set in motion by a cause that we may or may not even remember. When Justice comes into your life, you would best serve it by looking at your life circumstances and how you may have influenced, either directly or indirectly, your present situation. Often we can't see a correlation until we look at Karma in the true fashion of being a correction of energy going in the wrong direction. Karma's purpose is solely to bring your soul back into balance with the Universe.

If your life is out of balance and you need to straighten your path, be assured that Karma will come and give you a helping hand. It may feel like the Karmic Kick in the Butt, but it will set you moving forward on your path again, no doubt! So when life is giving you lemons, make the best lemonade you can by looking around and seeing what direction you were heading, what doors just closed and then look to see which door is down the hall waiting to be opened! Sometimes getting laid off is the only way the Universe can get you to take that class you have been putting off that leads to a great new job, which leads to a more satisfied life style, that leads to ?  Well, you get the idea. Don't prejudge your situation; you might be hitching a ride on the Karma train heading down a new path to a more rewarding life!

The Hanged Man XII
Ah, The Hanged Man, you thought Justice had a sharp sword, wait till you deal with the Hanged Man. The Hanged Man has two sides to himself. No matter which side you look at, he is not accepting the World's view of reality. The Hanged Man can be someone with addiction problems, tossed around day to day, ruled by their inability to live within the reality of today's world view. The higher vibration of the Hanged Man is someone who chooses not to accept the world's view of reality.  Living in the world, without being tossed about mindlessly, choosing what their reality will be using mindfulness and focus. Often when someone with addictive issues starts recovery, they will hand over things to a higher power (so to speak). They choose to allow a different reality to be present in their life, becoming good at using the higher vibration of the Hanged Man.

When Dave, my husband, was diagnosed with Stage Four Lung and Bone cancer, we were not going to accept the world view's reality (and the medical profession's) that Dave wouldn't make it.  We rose above the world view and allowed our reality, that he could get better and make a full recovery, to kick in. Letting go of main stream reality didn't mean that we went off the deep end and ignored the situation or just meditated on good health. Dave did the recommended medical treatment and prayed over his Chemo bags to promote healing energy. We invited prayers from everyone and Dave worked on his healing like a full time job! We were open to miracles and modern medicine and he is here today, in remission for over three years! (see www.Dharma-Talks.com for his story and insights)

The Hanged Man can be a very powerful energy. How you use that energy can be the difference between a work-a-holic or alcoholic that suspends the world's reality by deafening it through avoidance tactics or someone who rises to the higher vibration of The Hanged Man by understanding the cosmic laws of the Spiritual World while participating in the day to day World.  I have learned that one day at a time works for both sides of the Hanged Man.  We have the power, though daily mindfulness and choice to be a positive Cause to create the Effect we want to experience in our life. The Hanged Man helps us to see a different reality than the limited one our present world view provides us. It is this gift that The Hanged Man offers us after we've learned the Karmic Lessons of Justice, the Law of Cause and Effect.

Next ezine we will look at Transformation (Death) and Temperance.  The Fools journey up to Justice can be found in past issues on our web sites.

Tools To Develop Mindfulness:

When you lookup mindfulness in a western dictionary you find; aware: paying attention or taking care.  When you first start trying to be mindful, you are trying to be more aware.  Aware of what?  I like to tell myself that being mindful helps me to be here where "I am" in this present moment because in the next moment it will only be a dream of the past. So being mindful is being aware of yourself and everything around you, at any given moment.  That's hard, very hard, so we need to start slowly.  Take one step at a time.  Be patient and gentle with ourselves for it is a life's work.  Not some thing to master after going to one class or retreat.  Remember we are only human and we are fallible, so work on mindfulness slowly.

 Mind training:
To start we must train our mind to be open to endless possibilities. When you hear or sense something new, you should not hear yourself say "I know".  Instead you should let a mental gap open and wonder what is there.  What more is there to it?

I once read:
I will keep my thoughts positive, because thoughts become words.
I will keep my words positive, because words become actions.
I will keep my actions positive, because actions become habit.
I will keep my habits positive, because habits become destiny.

I looked at these lines and found four mantras.  A mantra is an often repeated expression or idea. A chant you say to yourself while thinking about it.  You start with only one line. And repeat that as much as you can for the first few days.  After a few days you will find yourself saying the mantra more and more, it becomes much easier and meaningful. Slowly you will notice your thoughts are more positive. Then you move onto the next line and so on.  I have been working on this mantra for twenty years; I am still working on the second and third line. Although the results of our actions may not have happened, they will eventually, given the right conditions.  We forget what we do, and long afterwards the results catch up to us.  By then we are unable to connect them with their causes, positive or negative.

I use mantras for many reasons.   The one I use the most is, "I thank you for this life."  I use it daily to start my prayers, my gratitudes, and just when something touches my sacred space.  It is very simple but if I use it to open that mental gap, that sense of wonder, then it becomes larger than life and unexplainable.  It becomes the key to the universal consciousness. Gee that sounds awful lofty, but when you connect you know it is truth. The Buddhist call it emptiness but it is emptiness with the warm energy of, love is everything and everything is love.  When I was growing up I was taught to call it the sacred silence or sacred space.  The warmth of compassion dwells in that space and treats every encounter with gentleness.

When you start to develop mindfulness you will notice that the drama in life is minimized.  Some might think you are distant or detached. Have you ever had a major situation in your life where you felt defeated and hurt, and then without knowing why you just let go of it?  It just goes and you wonder why you made so much about it.  Well you feel like that the more you practice mindfulness. You start to practice gentleness and compassion with out the drama.  You begin to lighten up, or light up with gentle solutions.  Just sitting and being gentle with yourself is rediscovering something more about yourself.  When you say your mantras breathe them out just like you are relaxing. Use your breath to give them life and release them to the four winds so your truth be known. Do not try to hang onto the breath, just let it go and let it dissolve on the winds to what ever destination it is needed most.
