We discovered that each of the Major 22 cards of the Tarot really are us going through our spiritual journey. We left off with our meeting with The High Priestess and are ready to connect with The Empress. We find The Empress sitting on a comfortable cushion in a beautiful garden. She is probably visualizing her next creation. The Empress is the queen of visualization. She represents the inspiration of the Fool, the will of the Magician and the intuitive connection of the High Priestess coming together into the pregnancy stage of manifesting that which The Emperor will finish! Mother Earth, Venus, Demeter and The Empress are all fashioned from the same mold. She represents fertility, feminine energy and the birth of new beginnings. When she shows up in your life, get ready to be in the creative stage of something new. You are preparing to birth a child or a project! Don't worry if you aren't ready for it to manifest, that is the job of The Emperor! We might have to go looking for The Emperor as he is rarely home. He can be a workaholic! He is the one that manifests the creativity of The Empress. Kind of like the husband being seen building the deck that the wife decides is needed for their family get-together! If he isn't building the deck, he is supervising the construction. The Emperor is the builder, boss and basically what you think of as masculine, manifesting energy! Here The Fool has learned that you need to put energy into an inspiration in order to see it manifest on Earth. With any project, you need the idea gal (Empress) and the guy that makes it happen (Emperor). Now remember that The Empress doesn't have to be a woman and the Emperor a man! We have take charge woman and creative men! We are talking about a type of energy here! They are just represented as male or female personas! The next stop on our Spiritual Ride is The Hierophant. Here we find what many people see as the Pope! I like to think of him/her as a Shepard leading the sheep. He is like The High Priestess except that he has to make rules for everyone to follow when she can make a different rule for every spiritual seeker. He helps us to connect to our inner vision like she does, but he uses tools that work for larger crowds. Sometimes he can be the rebel that started out trying to beat the system and ends up becoming part of the institution and make the changes he wants from within! He is really the power behind the scenes and has been compared to big business, religious organizations, institutions like government, hospitals and schools and even to the Mafia and the Internet. Just think of big brother or really big anything! When the Hierophant comes to talk to you, don't expect personalized attention. Expect the help of a large organizations and the need to think big! Next Ezine, we will walk the trail with The Lovers, ride a while with The Chariot and spend some quiet balancing time with Strength. You have permission to reprint what you just read. I also commented on the need to quiet Self in order to hear Spirit. That reminded me of when I was young living in Arizona. There I was taught the Native American natural ways. They spoke to me quite a bit about the Sacred Silence. One day when I was alone, I climbed one of the foothills near my home. When I reached the top I found a place that was quiet and undisturbed by our small community. There was a spot where I could overlook the valley below and not be observed. I immediately felt a connection to my new hideaway. What a perfect place to spend time in search of my Sacred Silence. I was nervous at first because I had to do this alone. I created my own ceremonies to quiet my mind with drumming and listening to the wind talk. It felt as though my mind had become my enemy, thoughts and doubts would interrupt my early attempts. I was beginning to think the Sacred Silence was an old Indian fairy tail. But I still enjoyed my time alone on the hilltop. I was able to relax there and think clearer, if that was all that happened then it was a positive time. Then one hot, dry afternoon I witnessed a strong wind starting a sandstorm on the other side of the valley. I was mesmerized by the sight and kept watching the same spot, as the sand was lifted into the air making larger and larger clouds. The sky was soon a yellowish color and the storm had reached half way across the valley. The sun was being covered and I could smell the change in the wind. Then I felt myself falling and I was half flying down to an unknown landscape below. I landed softly on a small hilltop and suddenly an elderly old Indian was before me. He began to speak to me, telling me that this was our sacred place. I was frightened at first. This old man had a sense of power. He told me the fear was my own and I had brought it with me. The power was also mine and I only had to return to this place, inside myself to use it. He nodded his head and it became cloudy, we sat quietly together for a while. I then found myself sitting in my hideaway and the storm had passed. I had to blink away the sand and dirt in my eyes and dust myself off. After that I couldn't wait until I had time to go to the hideaway again. The next few times, I entered the Sacred Silence with ease, now that I knew the way and I found my guide. He was peaceful and strong but used very few words. Many times he would show me images that gave me helpful information instead of speaking. I learned there is nothing to fear in meditation, it cannot harm you because it is only communication. Days later I had a lot on my mind and I wanted to go to my sacred place to sort it out. I could not quiet my mind, so I returned to the drumming and looking at one spot or thing until I calmed my mind enough to enter the Sacred Silence. I found that what ever works to quiet the mind is fine. In those days I felt that the meditation and listening for guidance was everything. As I grew older so did my responsibilities and as they grew my meditations became less frequent. After my Near Death Experience I realized what I had learned and experienced in my foothill hideaway was only the beginning. Meditation is the cornerstone of all religions and beliefs, through which we can achieve consciousness with Spirit and Nature. I came to understand that my mind was not the enemy and that I needed to quiet it in order to open a channel of communication. I now know that meditation needs to be more dynamic in today’s lifestyles and be usable no matter what a person is doing. Your mind (or Self) is still present in meditation you have just set it aside. Now after my NDE, I keep Self present when working with Spirit. This is needed otherwise you cannot go beyond meditation and living with Spirit at all times. But that is another story. You have permission to reprint what you just read.
