LOSS
OF JOB One of the things that was very hard to face was the loss of my job. I was a workaholic all my life I enjoyed working. And to suddenly face the fact that I’m 100% disabled at the age of 45was a lot to handle. Treatments may last six months to a year or more, just to fight this stage IV cancer and get it to remission. At that point it will still be incurable, and I will still have holes in the bones of my spine and may be on pain meds for the rest of my life. The Drs say I might get to live a year or two so make the best of it, retire. Well my plan is to live for ten years or more. I want to look at this one step at a time. I realized that I was no longer going to be this person that went to work each day. I put fourteen years into this program and was very proud of what I had accomplished and I was dedicated to my work. To have to give that up required myself to undergo a large mental housekeeping. I had to let go of a lot. That was a large undertaking for me. But when I came to that realization of my need to release the past and the old job then spirit gave me something else to do. This is a huge fork in your path. You need something to work on and if you look back on this life of yours, you will see that you have been preparing for this for years. You are going to still do some human tricks. Like grasping to satisfy the human side of us. Or a transference to some kind of a project until the human side is sated. Your human patterns of a lifetime need to be respected; they were one of your driving forces. You will have to greave the loss of your employment. Just like the loss of a loved one. Most of us use our creativity in the workplace and when you create you are bringing something to life. So to lose that what you created requires some feeling of loss.
