Practicing Conscious Living and Dying:
Stories of the Eternal Continuum of
Consciousness
by Annamaria Hemingway Part of my NDE story is one of the stories
included in this book. I think it is a wonderful book, not just
because my story is included, but because Annamaria has put together an
incredibly inspiring collection that will bring a tear to everyone's eyes.
It motivates you into living a more conscious life and helping others.
An uplifting collection of spiritually illuminating
texts and powerfully thought- provoking real life stories, showing death as
an integral part of life. Modern medical advances have resulted in death and
dying becoming a taboo, which leaves us feeling isolated when the
inescapability of death touches our lives. These touching observations of
closeness to someone else who is dying, and personal accounts of near death
experiences and after-death communication, illustrate how coming to terms
with the inevitability of death is actually a life-affirming experience.
These emotionally powerful and inspirational experiences address timeless
questions and show how each of the people has come to understand that death
teaches us that the preciousness of life must be lived with a sense of
purpose and meaning, as a celebration of our existence.
A Passage to Eternity:
by Azmina Suleman A Passage to Eternity brings a uniquely different perspective to the
whole genre of Near-Death Experiences. From an Islamic perspective it delves
into the more mystical dimensions of the spiritual realm, that challenges
the reader to open up to a transcendental reality that exists just outside
our present range of conscious experience.
Hoping to escape reality and plunge into the trappings of a magical kingdom,
Azmina and her family arrived at Florida's Disney World resort. But Azmina
had no idea that the Magic Kingdom she was about to visit was not fashioned
by earthly designers working under the tutelage of Mr. Walt Disney. She was
destined to visit a place forged by the Spiritual Architect of the great
beyond Himself.
Azmina's book, A Passage to Eternity, gives us a glimpse into the world of
spirituality. It describes the intricate process that a soul passes through
as it marks its trajectory towards its ultimate merging with the Almighty.
PMH has don it again, this is an
up date to the "Complete Idiots Guide to NDEs", an intellectual tour de
force; the most comprehensive reference book for the near-death phenomenon.
The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences encompasses every aspect of the
near-death phenomenon: the experience, aftereffects, and implications.
Atwater's simple, appealing format includes drawings and cartoons by Spirit
Painter and Chuck Vadun and sidebars from experts. She investigates and
reports on the power of changed lives, the reality of deceased who come
back, visitors at death's edge, out-of-body travel, the expansion of normal
faculties, the awesome presence of Deity and the importance of spirituality.
The Sourcebook examines near-death studies from the "Moody Miracle" early
days, through the myths of "the light at the end of the tunnel" and "the
religion of the resuscitated," to 2007. After 32 years of work with clinical
prospective studies in several countries, the reality of the near-death
experience has been verified, confirming its importance in the study of
consciousness.
Eyes of an Angel a remarkable
book authored by an equally remarkable man, is a very accurate portrayal of
its subtitle; Soul Travel, Spirit Guides, Soul Mates, And The Reality Of
Love ". The author is Paul Elder who has previously variously been a
television news reporter and the mayor of a Canadian city. Paul now works
with the highly respected Skip Atwater of the famous and justifiably highly
respected Monroe Institute, teaching Remote Viewing among other very
important inner abilities.
Eyes of an Angel chronicles the experiences of a man and his own unique
journey to inner enlightenment through two near death experiences, and how
through these profound inner experiences and his close involvement with The
Monroe Institute, becomes increasingly aware of the "greater inner
realities", and which experiences changes his life forever.
For those
looking for an Christian NDE this is a good one. In his
mid-thirties, Ned Dougherty had everything: money, women, property,
prestige, and power. He owned one of the most popular nightclubs in the
Hamptons, Long Island's exclusive playground. He lived in the fast lane,
pursuing pleasure. Then, in the middle of a heated argument, Dougherty
toppled over and died of a heart attach. The Near-Death Experience that
followed launched Dougherty on a 15-year quest to accept, understand, and
integrate the revelations he was given.
I could really relate to Ned Dougherty's experience and the aftereffects he
went through.
In Life After Life Raymond
Moody investigates more than one hundred case studies of people who
experienced "clinical death" and were subsequently revived. First published
in 1975, this classic exploration of life after death started a revolution
in popular attitudes about the afterlife and established Dr. Moody as the
world's leading authority in the field of near-death experiences. Life
after Life forever changed the way we understand both death and life
selling millions of copies to a world hungry for a greater understanding of
this mysterious phenomenon.
The extraordinary stories
presented here provide evidence that there is life after physical death, as
Moody recounts the testimonies of those who have been to the "other side"
and back -- all bearing striking similarities of an overwhelming positive
nature. These moving and inspiring accounts give us a glimpse of the peace
and unconditional love that await us all.
The Day I Died: Remarkable True Stories of Near-Death Experience
by Tammy Cohen
The Day I Died brings together 10
profoundly moving testimonies from people who have passed through the limits
of human endurance and beyond. Around the world, ordinary people go about
their daily lives convinced they've had a glimpse into the afterlife. Their
eyewitness accounts often share uncanny similarities, and this book does
justice to this beguiling subject by analyzing narratives and shedding light
on a phenomenon at the crossroads of the medical and the mystical. Tammy
Cohen presents several intriguing real-life accounts, including a man who
"died" on the operating table and awoke with increased psychic abilities, a
victim of domestic abuse who had a life-changing unusual out-of-body
experience, plus stories from people who had "drowned" and "died" of heart
attacks. Powerful, challenging, and endlessly fascinating, The Day I Died
celebrates both pleasurable and distressing near-death experiences.
The New Children and Near-Death
Experiences is the first book to provide--from the view of the child--an
in-depth study of children who have experienced the near-death phenomenon
and its aftereffects. Atwater notes that the child who returns from a
near-death experience is not the same child as before, but is a remodeled,
rewired, reconfigured, refined version of the original. Presenting data to
support her contention that these children have experienced structural,
chemical, and functional changes in the brain, she also shows how their
greater empathic abilities as well as dramatically higher intelligence are
qualities that are also present in children born since 1982--enhanced
abilities that cannot be tied to simple genetics. Atwater shows that
understanding the near-death experiences of children can help us prepare for
a quantum leap in the evolution of humanity.
by P.M.H. Atwater
P.M.H. Atwater was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and died in Boise, Idaho. Yes,
the author of this book died- three times to be exact. Since those
experiences, she has traveled, studied, spoken and written about what
happened to her and others when they died. Considered an authority on death,
near death, and the afterlife, Atwater has written a book that gives details
and deep insights into what really happens when you die and what it truly
means. She also explores such mysteries as heaven and hell, the souls’
existence after death, the power of prayer, and delves into the truths and
myths about death that may shed new light on the real truth about life and
living.
by Kenneth
Ring, Ph.D. & Evelyn Elsaesser Valarino
While providing many accounts of near-death experiences (NDEs) from men,
women, and children of all ages and backgrounds, Lessons from the Light is
more than just an inspiring collection of NDEs. In what many consider his
strongest book, Kenneth Ring extracts the pure gold of the NDE and with a
beautiful balance of science and human insight reveals the practical wisdom
held within these experiences.
Lessons from the Light will help you to live your life with greater
self-awareness, self-compassion, and concern for others. It will also
extinguishes your fears of death and dying. Reading Lessons from the Light
is an altogether transforming experience.
Kenneth Ring, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of
Connecticut and co-founder and past president of the International
Association for Near-Death Studies. Regarded as the "Dean of NDE
Researchers," he is the founding editor of the Journal of Near-Death Studies
and the author of several previous books on NDEs, including Life At Death,
Heading Toward Omega, and The Omega Project, as well as the monograph,
Near-Death and Out-of-Body Experiences in the Blind. Dr. Ring has appeared
on hundreds of TV and radio programs, including The Larry King Show, Good
Morning America, The Today Show, and many others. Professor Ring currently
resides in Kentfield, California, near his natal city, San Francisco.
Storm, an avowed atheist, was
awaiting emergency surgery when he realized that he was at death’s door.
Storm found himself out of his own body, looking down on the hospital room
scene below. Next, rather than going “toward the light,” he found himself
being torturously dragged to excruciating realms of darkness and death,
where he was physically assaulted by monstrous beings of evil. His
description of his pure terror and torture is unnerving in its utter
originality and convincing detail.
Finally, drawn away from death and transported to the realm of heaven, Storm
met angelic beings as well as the God of Creation. In this fascinating
account, Storm tells of his “life review,” his conversation with God, even
answers to age-old questions such as why the Holocaust was allowed to take
place. Storm was sent back to his body with a new knowledge of the purpose
of life here on earth. This book is his message of hope.
Nanci is a good friend and this
is her story. Backwards is the true story of one big firm trial lawyer's
after death face-to-face communication with God/Source about the mysteries
of life and death. Backwards shatters the age-old belief that we are mere
humans, that fate determines our destinies, and that a task master God
demands our obedience and worship. Nanci L. Danison, JD, brings the
credibility of a trial lawyer trained to evaluate evidence to her account of
the answers to our most pressing spiritual questions: who is God? Who am I?
What is the purpose of life? Why am I here? What happens when we die? And
how should I live my life here on Earth? She offers a "life plan" from the
afterlife that originates in and resonates with our true spiritual nature,
and provides step-by-step guidance on how to access and develop our
Source-like traits in order to bring peace and happiness to our own lives
and our planet.
Where God Lives: The Science of the Paranormal and How Our Brains are
Linked to the Universe
by Melvin Morse
Is there proof that "near death"
and other spiritual experiences can cure afflictions of the body, mind, and
spirit? Are there simple ways to tap into a "universal power source" that
spiritual masters call enlightenment? Is there scientific evidence of life
after death that is being overlooked by skeptics? Is there scientific proof
of a spot in our brains that communicates with God and the universe?
Pediatrician Melvin Morse believes the answer to all these questions is yes.
Shedding new light on the links between science and mysticism, Where God
Lives not only reveals the area of the brain that is our biological link to
the universe, but also shows us the secret of tapping into the universal
energy to achieve healing, personal peace, and transcendence. Filled with
moving case histories, Where God Lives applies the rigor of science to the
study of the spiritual to prove once and for all the existence of life after
death.
This is the NDE that started Dr.
Raymond Moody researching NDEs. At the age of twenty, George Ritchie died in
an army hospital. Nine minutes later, he returned to life. What happened to
him during those minutes was so compelling, it changed his life forever. In
Return from Tomorrow, he tells of his out-of-the-body encounter with other
nonphysical beings, his travel through different dimensions of time and
space, and ultimately, his transforming meeting with the Light of the world,
the Son of God. Ritchie's amazing experience not only altered his view of
eternity-it has since directed and governed his entire life. One of the most
startling and hopeful descriptions of the realm beyond, Return from Tomorrow
may change your life for the better, too!
From the age of 7 to the age of
22, Kathie Jordan's deceased brother came to her at nighttime, pulled her
from her body, and guided her to Heaven. In these nighttime journeys, she
was taught about the purpose of life in the body, the meaning of death, and
about the soul's progress in the afterlife. In these moments out of her
body, Kathie is taken to higher and higher levels of Heaven, where she meets
and learns from spiritual teachers, including Jesus.
This Book is
out of Print but you can buy used books at Amazon. This is the
book I recommend to any one that has had a NDE or a Spontaneous Awakening. Based
on extensive interviews with over two hundred near-death survivors and
thousands of their friends and relatives, Atwater, herself a "survivor" of
three near-death experiences, examines the major positive and negative
after-effects which survivors experience, including:
* a shifted view of physical reality and disorientation in the world of time
and space
* expanded intuitive and psychic abilities
* spiritual transformation
* difficulty with communication and relationships and an inability to
personalize emotions and feelings, especially those of love.
COMING BACK TO LIFE also provides a specific recovery plan for assisting
near-death survivors in their return to "ordinary living." It is a
compassionate and invaluable resource for the survivors and those who love
them. This book was recommended to me when I was having trouble
integrating the NDE with who I am. It really helped a lot, those many
years ago.
In
1927, Walter Evans-Wentz published his translation of an obscure Tibetan Nyingma text and called it the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Popular
Tibetan teacher Sogyal Rinpoche has transformed that ancient text,
conveying a perennial philosophy that is at once religious, scientific,
and practical. Through extraordinary anecdotes and stories from
religious traditions East and West, Rinpoche introduces the reader to
the fundamentals of Tibetan Buddhism, moving gradually to the topics of
death and dying. Death turns out to be less of a crisis and more of an
opportunity. Concepts such as reincarnation, karma, and bardo and
practices such as meditation, tonglen, and phowa teach us how to face
death constructively. As a result, life becomes much richer.
